Name:

Robert Banghart

Location:

Tulalip, Washington

Story:

I was a very active hiker, climber, skier, biker and swimmer in high school, college and graduate school but really cut back when I started my career and family. Fast forward to twenty years later and I got back into those things but still on a limited basis. Since I turned 65 two years ago I have gotten back into all of them and am putting in more miles than ever. Last year, I put in over 3,650 miles. This year I have already put in over 1,200 miles so I am ahead of last year’s pace.

I have two daughters who run races and four grandchildren who have already completed 5K’s (the youngest two rode in strollers this year but that is about to come to an end. The family keeps me inspired and huffing and puffing just to keep up with them!

From my home of  Tulalip, Washington— about 30 miles north of Seattle—I have views of the North Cascades, the Olympics and Puget Sound. I am frequently in Ogden, Utah where I can be found hiking the Wasatch Front or riding with a group known as the “Sweet Emotion Bike Posse of Ogden.”

Upcoming Races:

Seattle Turkey Trot on November 27th.

Goal:

Running, walking, climbing, hiking, biking or swimming a combined total of 3,650 miles (10 miles a day)
